How to prepare a print file for vouchers

In short

  • CMYK, 300 dpi, fonts outlined, no ICC profiles
  • 2 mm bleed on every side, e.g. DL: 103×214 mm, A6: 109×152 mm
  • content at least 3 mm from the cut line (and from the crease on folded vouchers)
  • closed file: PDF, JPG or TIFF; double-sided = 2 PDF pages

Space for the number and data

If you order numbering or personalisation, leave an empty field in the design for the number, code or name. Ideally on a light background, at least 3 mm from the edge and at least 6 mm high. Do not put sample text there. You will place the data later in the personalisation studio, or add it yourself in your file.

Numbering and personalisation: two options

For the order item you choose one of two ways.

Online personalisation

You upload the design with the empty field and the data list: an XLSX sheet or a CSV file. Use one column per field (e.g. number, name, valid until) and one row per voucher. In the personalisation studio you place the fields on the design: numbering with a prefix, a QR code, a barcode or text from the list, with font and size. The studio checks the list and flags doubtful entries, such as repeated numbers. Finally you approve a preview of the first and last 10 pieces, and the print file with the data is generated automatically. We show it step by step in the article online print personalisation.

I have the files ready

You upload a file with the data already filled in: one page (a pair of pages for double-sided printing) per piece. The page count must match the quantity.

Folded voucher

You design it as one open sheet. A folded DL is 198×210 mm, or 202×214 mm with bleed; the crease runs through the middle of the width. PDF page 1 is the outside (left half the back, right half the front), page 2 the inside. Download the template with cut and crease lines using the button below the configurator.

Perforation

We perforate along a straight line, from edge to edge of the piece. We do not do partial perforation. Show its position in the file you upload in the perforation field, or describe it in the order notes (e.g. “perforation 50 mm from the right edge”). Keep important elements at least 3 mm from that line.

Hot foil

Prepare the gold, silver or hologram elements in a separate PDF file and upload it in the hot foil field. Save them as solid black (K100), without halftones or gradients, with lines no thinner than 0.5 pt. We apply hot foil on soft-touch lamination. The calculator shows which papers it can be ordered on.
