What is a reverse tuck end box
The reverse tuck end box, RTE in the trade, is the classic carton with a closing flap at the top and at the bottom. The flaps come from opposite panels: the top one from the front, the bottom one from the back. The dust flaps tuck under the closing flap, and its tongue slides inside to keep the box shut without glue. You know it from pharmacies and drugstores.
How it works
In the calculator you enter three inside dimensions in millimetres: length L, the longer side of the base, width W and height H from the bottom to the lid. We measure inside the box, between the crease lines, so you enter the size of your product with a little clearance. The calculator works out the dieline and the price straight away.
Next to the form you see the box in 3D. The slider folds and unfolds it, and you rotate it with the mouse. The second tab shows the dieline with cut and crease lines for your dimensions. You download a 1:1 PDF template in the calculator.
When to choose it
A good choice for light products: cosmetics, supplements, tea, small parts and promotional items. This style allows the smallest boxes in the family, from 25 mm length and 10 mm width of the base. If the front should be completely smooth, choose the straight tuck end box. A box with a stronger base for heavier products is quoted on request.
Board
We print boxes on board from 280 to 350 gsm. The default is 300 gsm board coated on one side. You can also choose Alfa White and Upside White, or board coated on both sides, which gives a white, smooth inside. For a natural look, pick 290 gsm grey kraft. We include the board thickness in the dieline, so the inside dimensions stay exactly as you entered them.
Print and finishing
We print the outside of the box in full colour, the inside stays blank. Boxes are cut and creased on a cutting plotter, so you do not pay for a cutting die, even for a dozen boxes. We glue the side seam with hot-melt glue, so the boxes arrive flat and ready to open.
Optionally add one-sided lamination: gloss, matt, scratch-resistant matt or soft touch. It protects the print from scuffing in transit and on the shelf.
Quantity and other options
We print from 10 pieces. Setup costs the same for 10 and for 100 boxes, so the unit price drops noticeably with larger runs. The calculator shows it for several quantities at once. File preparation is covered in how to prepare a printed box.
You can price the other variant online: straight tuck end box. Boxes with a window, a custom shape or an insert are quoted individually: use the “Request a quote” button in the calculator or contact us.
